Eye diseases are defined as any disease that occurs in the eyelids, eye membrane, tear ducts, lens or nerve tissues surrounding the eye. These diseases occur due to genetic or environmental factors and can lead to vision problems.
Types of Eye Diseases
A condition that causes vision loss due to clouding of the lens of the eye.
Damage to the optic nerve due to increased intraocular pressure.
Structural and functional disorders of the retina (For example: Macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy).
Visual impairment caused by thinning and tapering of the corneal tissue.
Discomfort caused by inadequate tear production or rapid evaporation of tears.
Redness, itching and watering of the eyes due to pollen, dust or other allergens.
Eye infections caused by bacteria, viruses or fungi (For example: Conjunctivitis).
The eyes look in different directions as a result of the eye muscles working inconsistently.
Eyelid inflammation, styes, drooping eyelids (ptosis).
Visual disorders such as myopia, hyperopia, astigmatism.
Inflammation of the middle layer of the eye.
Benign or malignant tumors occurring in or around the eye.
Eye injuries resulting from trauma.
