Digital X-ray
Medicated Radiographs
Intravenous pyelography (IVP) is an X-ray examination using x-rays. It is a radiological examination performed by taking intermittent films during the passage of the drug administered intravenously with x-ray dye (opaque substance) from the kidneys to the urinary tract after a direct abdominal radiograph is taken. The biggest advantage is that it shows the anatomy of the urinary tract. The x-ray dye (opaque substance) given to the patient enters the bloodstream, collects in the kidneys and allows the kidneys and urinary tract to be seen on the film.
HSG (Hysterosalpingography - Medicated Uterine X-ray)
Hysterosalpingography (HSG) is an X-ray examination using x-rays. An oily x-ray dye (opaque substance) is injected into the uterus through a cylindrical catheter that passes through the cervix (cervix).
By evaluating the diffusion pattern of this X-ray sensitive dye, the uterine cavity will be examined for possible polyps, fibroids or similar tumoral masses that may cause irregularities in the uterus.
The progression of the dye through the tubes and its spread into the abdomen can also be used to determine whether there is a partial or total obstruction in any of the tubes. HSG is a method that is often routinely used in infertility investigations.
